History

Spring Valley Presbyterian Church is over 30 years old.  Organized in the spring of 1977, the first service was held on May 1, 1977 at the Wildewood School (now St. John Neumann School).  Our first building was built in 1979.  That building is now part of the Christian Education facility.  The first service in the current sanctuary was on Easter Sunday, March 1989.  The Christian Education facility was expanded and extended to include the Atrium the Outreach Room and Potts Fellowship Hall in 2001.

Outreach and missions has always been an important part of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church.  God’s Storehouse grew out of a Food and Coat Closet mission here. The Souper Bowl of Caring began here in 1990 under the leadership of our then Associate Pastor, Brad Smith.  We have participated in numerous Habitat for Humanity home projects, including the build in the spring of 2008.  Our youth and supporting adults have made mission trips to Mexico regularly, as well as locations closer to home.  We have numerous other missions/outreach programs including Scouts, Angel Tree, Blood Drive, and others detailed under “Serve” on this site.

We are excited about our future.  We are a strong family of believers and we continue to work together to reach out to each other and our community.
