VBS Signups Open: 06/16 - 06/19/25
We are very excited that your child will be with us for Knights of North Castle! It will be a wonderful week of fun, friendship and growing in God's Word!
**PLEASE NOTE: In order to sign up as a participant, your child MUST have a DOB BEFORE September 1, 2021.**
**Note the new dates and times**
DATES: Monday, June 16th through Thursday, June 19th
TIMES: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
The cost is $20 per child.
If you have a younger child (DOB after August 31, 2021) that you would like to participate, an adult MUST sign up to volunteer on the Adult Volunteer Form. The younger child can then be signed up on that form.
VBS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS!
Dinner available for volunteers & their families every night of VBS from 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm in Potts Hall.

Mission of the Month
We are collecting socks for the migrants from now through July 7th and they will be brought to the Migrant Ministry dinner on July 8th.

Month of May: Be a Blessing to Someone
Families & small groups are invited to bless the Family Promise families this May!
Alongside partner churches, we’ll provide one meal per week, needed groceries, and Mother’s Day surprises for the four families in residence.
Volunteers are needed the first week of May (and beyond)! Questions or if interested, contact Dena Jordan at (803) 315-0511.

Faith Formation Sundays: every Sunday unless noted
Sunday morning programming for youth and children. These are held in our classrooms down the 200 hallway from 9:30am-10:15am. Contact Marilyn Dillon at dillonmarilyn8@gmail.com with any questions.

Wednesday Morning Adult Bible Study
Every Wednesday except April 30th, from 10-11AM in Crossroads (off of the Atrium).
On May 7th, we'll begin our Summer Study Plan. Each week will stand alone as a study.
For the first Summer Study on 5/7, we will discuss selected portions of Trent Horn's book "Answering Atheism".

JOY Group: 05/05/25
Just Older Youth. This group is generally 55+ and meets the first Monday of every month. Bring a covered dish to share and join us in Potts Hall on May 5 for JOY Group at 12:30PM.
May's Speaker is Scott Cooke, Communications Director of the SC Department of Consumer Affairs (SCDCA). He will present on fraud and scams.
Cooke serves as the main point of media contact at SCDCA and direct the activities of the agency’s Public Information and Education Division. Cooke joined SCDCA in October of 2021 as the agency’s Social Media and Web Strategist. He is an Emmy Award winner with more than 20-years of experience in broadcast journalism. He began his career as a newscast producer in Columbia, SC and Indianapolis, IN, before moving into newsroom management.
Cooke is a graduate from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Journalism & Mass Communications. He is originally from Travelers Rest, SC.

Baccalaureate Service: 05/14/25
Spring Valley Presbyterian Church hosts First Northeast Baptist Church in celebration of our graduating seniors on Wednesday, May 14 at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary, with food and drinks to follow.

In the Thicket: Thursday Morning Breakfast: 05/15/25
Join our monthly breakfast/discussion group that meets in the private dining room at Lizard's Thicket in front of Target on Two Notch Road at 8:00 AM. Led by Steve Bower and/or Ken McManus.

Book Club: 05/18/25
New members are always welcome. Upcoming meeting info & book selections are available in weekly announcements & email newsletter.
May 18 at 3:30PM: “Show Don’t Tell” by Elizabeth Curtis Sittenfeld, a collection of short stories exploring human behavior.
In June we will read “People of Means” by Nancy Johnson, a moving story of mothers and daughters and their fight for racial equality. June's meeting is on June 15th.
Books we have read in the past are listed here.
We read fairly new fiction with a few non-fiction selections a year. Meetings are informal and almost always include M & M's!

Migrant Ministry Dinner: 07/08/25
Now collecting SOCKS for migrant workers.
We also need 10 volunteers to help deliver and serve dinner in Monetta on July 8, and 2-3 volunteers to help pick up and pack the food around 4:30. We will then carpool and leave the church by 5:15pm.

Baseball Night: 08/15/25
One of our favorite events of the year is coming our way this summer. On FRIDAY, AUGUST 15 we get together for a night of baseball.
First pitch is at 7:05pm at Segra Park versus the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, and it is Toy Story Night. Tickets are for upstairs at the BMW of Columbia Balcony and include food and soft drinks, along with a cash bar.
Adults (13+): $25 Children (12 & under) are $5.
Game Highlights: Toy Story Night - kicking off the final 10 games.
Payment is due by August 1 via check (with Fireflies in memo line) or pay online at https://onrealm.org/svpc/-/form/give/now and scroll on the dropdown menu to "Fireflies Outing" under "Funds".
Tickets will be text to your cell phone the week of the event.
